Since the late 1980’s Uma Krishnaswamy has been illustrating books for children and adults, including, And Land Was Born, A Dollop of Ghee and A Pot of Wisdom, and Out of the Way! Out of the Way!. She enjoys creating parallel worlds through her art, which she renders in styles and fashions picked up from all corners of the globe.
A collector of children’s books, Uma teaches Visual Studies at the Madras Craft Foundation, and History of Art is her all-time favourite subject. She has lived in Chennai for most of her life.
